Select text properties. In the toolbar at the top of the page, change any of the following options: Font - Click the current font's name, then click the font that you want to use in the drop-down menu.; Size - Click the current number to the right of the font, then click the number that you want to use. The larger the number, the larger the text. It's safe to say you aer using the PCL UPD and not the PS UPD. PCL is terrible at images, especially PDF's because of all the conversions that takes place. If your printing from anything Adobe you will want to print using a PostScript driver and not PCL. Even better.use the Citrix Universla Printer if these are Windows clients.

The digital age has made storing and document transfers more efficient than ever. However, many email systems still have a limit to the size of documents you can send or receive. You may additionally want to save on storage space on hard drives or cloud networks. If you have a PDF document that is a large file size, you will need to compress it. To shrink PDF documents in Adobe Acrobat, open the file within Adobe and work within that software program. There are third-party file compressor programs to use but these should be downloaded following all security protocols.

Understanding Acrobat Versions

Adobe Acrobat Pro was the desktop downloadable version of Acrobat. This version went up to version Acrobat XI before Adobe offered most of its product suite to a cloud-based system called Acrobat DC with 'DC' referring to the 'document cloud.' Adobe Acrobat Pro and Adobe Acrobat DC are essentially the same programs just accessed differently by the user.

Reduce PDF File Size

Adobe Acrobat has a file compressor option to reduce the PDF file size within its Save functions. In Adobe XI, go to File and select Save As Other. This lets the program know you aren't merely capturing changes to the document but making a new file. Under Save As Other, choose Reduced Size PDF. Older Acrobat versions may call this Reduce File Size. Saving in the new version of Adobe Acrobat might make sharing the file difficult if the receiving party has an older version of Adobe Reader.

In the process of using the file compressor, select the option Make Compatible With so you can choose to make the smaller file compatible with older versions of Adobe Reader. For example, if you choose Make Compatible With Adobe Reader 8, the new file is viewable by parties with Reader versions going back to version 8.

Optimizer File Option

You can shrink the PDF file size and still have a file that is too large. If this is the case, Adobe Acrobat has an option to optimize the file. When you reduce the size of a PDF, you are compressing it by 10 to 15 percent in something like a ZIP file. When you compress it, you are maximizing the information while reducing the file as much as 90 percent.

To shrink PDF file size as much as possible, choose the Optimizer option instead of the condense PDF option. This is easily done by going to the same menu option in File, Save As Other. Instead of choosing Reduce Size PDF, choose Optimized PDF. Locate the Settings button and press it. Select Custom Settings. Make sure to choose 75 ppi when optimizing to reduce both color and gray scale images. Save the file and check the file size to confirm it meets your needs.

I scanned a document on a scanner at a friend's house and the pdf ended up being 35 inches by 45 inches in size. I think this the cause of the trouble had for the person I sent it to, they get the error 'insufficient image'.

How can I scale this down in Adobe Acrobat X Pro to a normal 8.5x11 inch sheet so that I can see if that resolves their issue and I can share the document with them. I cannot rescan the document, as I no longer have it.

Acrobat is running on Windows 7 OS. The scanner was an HP OfficeJet Pro L7650 All-in-one.

Since you have Adobe Acrobat X Professional, you should be able to use the 'Print to PDF' option.

All you would need to do is 'Print to PDF,' and make sure that the paper being printed to is letter format (8.5' x 11'). Page scaling options should be under the printer setup menu in the print dialog.

Tools: Print Production: Set Page Boxes - Allows you to resize the entire document to whatever dimension you like using the bottom portion OR crop the page using the top portion of the 'Set Page Boxes' area.

If you have Microsoft Office installed, and you have an XPS printer installed, you should be able to print the PDF to the XPS printer. If you want to retain the image quality, go into the XPS printer settings and choose PNG - lossless. Then right click over the XPS file and convert it back into a PDF. You can pick the page size then (8.5' x 11'), so the resulting PDF will already be sized correctly.

  2. Go to [file] > [Print]. See [Figure_1]
  3. Choose as Printer [Adobe PDF] - Leave the configuration as it is. See [Figure_2]
  4. Select [Page set up]. See [Figure_2]
  5. Choose paper size see [Figure_3]

PS. I prepared a tutorial, but it's subordinated to a: 'need at least 10 reputation to post images'. So i was not allowed to post that Image-Tutorial.Sorry.
