Step 1: Download and extract both the above files in a specific folder on your PC. You can use Winrar to extract the same.

Step 2: Next completely switch off your Galaxy Star Duos until it vibrates.

Step 3: You need to boot the phone into downloading mode now. For the same, keep pressing and holding ‘Home Button (middle button) + Volume down key + Power Button’ simultaneously until you see a warning message. Leave all the three keys now.

Step 4: Keeping the phone as it is, connect it to PC using the USB cable. Now just press Volume Up to continue. This will directly land you into downloading mode. Refer screenshot.

Step 5: For confirming that your device has been successfully connected, navigate to the downloaded folder & launch ‘Odin Multi Downloader3-v3.09′ software which you’ve just got after extraction. As soon as you open it, the ID:COM section in it (located at top left corner) will turn blue. Also an Added message will appear in the message window. This will confirm that your device has been successfully connected to the PC. But if it doesn’t turn blue then it’s more likely to be problem with the device drivers. Immediately check whether you’ve properly installed the device specific drivers on your PC or not. You can install them via Samsung Kies or manually install them from the links given above (refer Pre-Requisites section).

Step 6: Next tick the Auto Reboot option and F.Reset option located on the Odin window. Do not tick or un-tick any other option. Remember that ticking Re-partition option may increase the risk of bricking your device. So do not ignore this step before moving ahead.

Step 7: Now, tick against ‘AP’ button and navigate to the firmware package & select it (The extracted firmware file may look like: S5282XXANF3_S5282ODDANF1_INS.tar.md5). Wait till Odin verifies the md5 hash. If it’s successful then there won’t be any warning message.

Step 8: After doing everything as mentioned, initiate the process by pressing on the Start button located on the Odin window. You’ll notice that the phone automatically reboots itself while going through the process. Do not remove the USB cable until the process completes, as this may interrupt it.

Step 9: Be patient until the process completes fully. It will complete in few minutes. As soon as it completes successfully, you’ll see that the ID:COM section on the Odin window is turned green with the message ‘Pass’ below it. This will confirm that you have properly flashed the Official Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean XXANF3 firmware on your Galaxy Star Duos. Now you can disconnect your phone by safely removing the USB cable.
